Nursing program bavaria
Here you can find out everything about our qualification program for international nursing professionals in Germany. The program prepares you specifically for professional recognition and is designed so that you can start at any language level.
The content is specifically geared towards the requirements of the knowledge test in Bavaria. The courses take place at the training locations in Landshut and as location-independent online events.
We create optimal conditions for your learning success by continuously monitoring your progress and providing systematic learning advice. All courses include comprehensive teaching materials and you will receive a certificate of completion at the end of each course.
The program consists of five parts, you can join the program flexibly at any point.
Program overview
Part 1: General language A1 – B1
Objective: To build up basic to advanced German language skills for confident communication in everyday life and to prepare for the professional language course B2.
Duration: 8 weeks (full-time) per language level
Contents:
- Placement test before the course starts
- Intensive language training at levels A1 – B1
- Final exams included
Part 2: Professional language course B2
Objective: To improve language skills for competent communication in a professional context with a focus on the nursing profession.
Duration: 10 weeks (part-time)
Contents:
- Professional skills (nursing terminology, communication in interprofessional teams, conversations with patients, conversations with relatives, documentation)
- Introduction to the German healthcare system
- Introduction to intercultural communication
- Practical training
Part 3: B2 examination
Objective: To determine general language skills and the specific language skills required for the nursing profession at level B2.
Duration: 5 hours
Contents:
- Reading comprehension: Answering questions about texts, completing gap-fill texts
- Listening comprehension: Answering questions about conversations in form of audio files
- Written expression: Writing texts on a given topic
- Oral expression: presenting a short presentation
Part 4: Intensive Course Preparation Nursing Knowledge Test
Objective: To impart comprehensive nursing knowledge for optimal preparation for the knowledge test and integration into everyday working life in Germany.
Duration: 23 weeks (part-time)
Contents:
- Practical week in the skills lab with practical exercises on planning and carrying out nursing measures
- Teaching practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
- Explanation of the processes involved in everyday working life in Germany
- Legal framework conditions
- Introduction to the examination framework and how to deal with the examination questions
- Examination training
- E-learning
Part 5: Nursing Knowledge Test
Objective: To determine the professional and communicative aptitude for practicing the nursing profession in Germany.
Duration: 5 hours
Contents:
- Oral part: Answering questions on case studies and general nursing and medical topics
- Practical part: Practical planning and implementation of nursing measures in the skills lab or at the practice location (clinic/care home/outpatient care) with subsequent answers to questions
Entry Requirements
- Certificate as a nursing professional (exam / diploma)
Depending on entry level:
- Recognized language certificate (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD)
- Place of residence in Bavaria
- Valid residence permit
- Proof of the recognition procedure in Bavaria (confirmation of receipt or notification from the State Office for Nursing (LfP))
Funding
The courses “Professional Language Course B2” and “Intensive Course Preparation Nursing Knowledge Test” is AZAV certified and can be funded with an education voucher from an Employment Agency or Jobcenter. Various scholarships are available as well if you reside in Germany.

The General Language A1 to B1 courses are not certified. The costs incurred must be borne independently.
