Objective

This funded course prepares foreign pharmacists comprehensively for the Pharmaceutical Language Test C1 to obtain the German medical license (Approbation) as well as for the medical working life.

Course contents

In classroom teaching (on-site presence or online presence), the relevant structures as well as the peculiarities of the professional competences in the field of communication and interaction will be explained (for example, patient consultation, case presentation, expert discussion, documentation). The pharmaceutical language skills will be taught with regard to the professional competencies and are practically trained.

Teaching material

The following textbooks are included in the course fees:

  • FIA Script (digital version)
  • Fokus Deutsch: Kurs- / Übungsbuch (C1), 2. Auflage 2022

Teachers

Course instructors  are qualified teachers with appropriate degrees and educational aptitude.

Entry requirements

  • A degree in pharmacy
  • A recognized B2 language certificate (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD – a confirmation of course participation is not sufficient)
  • Take a placement test before the start of the course
  • Registered residence in Germany
  • A valid visa / residence permit
  • Proof of recognition procedure (i.e copy of application form, if available copy of application receipt)

Exam

After completing the course a C1 professional language test can be taken at the Medical Association responsible for your recognition procedure.

Examination fee reimbursement can be requested from BAMF.
 

C1 Patient Communication Test (PKT) professional language at FIA:

For holders of a degree from an EU country, the FIA C1 PKT professional language for medicine / dentistry / pharmacy is currently recognized in the federal states of Hamburg and Hesse.

Holders of a degree from outside the EU must take the C1 professional language test offered only at the state medical associations in Hamburg and Hesse.

The PKT professional language Medicine and Pharmacy C1 of the FIA remains recognized as proof of sufficient professional language skills for all degrees in the federal state of Saarland. 

Those interested in the PKT professional language Dentistry C1 of the FIA are strongly recommended to contact the responsible authority before registering in order to have the recognition of the FIA professional language examination confirmed. 

The recognition of our PKT certificates is the responsibility of the licensing authorities in the respective federal states. We therefore recommend that you contact the licensing authority responsible for you in advance.

Qualification program certificate

After completing the course (attendance of at least 80%) participants receive a qualification program certificate.

Funding

The "Specialized Language Course Academic Health Professions C1 Pharmacy" is approved by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and can be funded with a certificate of eligibility from BAMF if you reside in Germany.
