Simulation Medical Language Test
Objective
This funded course is aimed at foreign medical doctors and focuses on preparing for the professional language test and refreshing already acquired professional language skills.
Course contents
In classroom teaching (on-site or online), relevant aspects of medical competency in the areas of communication and interaction are repeated (for example anamnesis, oral patient presentation, informed consent, patient counselling, documentation). Specific exam simulations are conducted by using real exam protocols.
E-learning
Through different individual online exercises, e-learning units serve to consolidate the newly acquired professional language skills.
The course consists of 2 online learning modules, which can be independently retrieved and solved. The medical content is based on test-related topics and on common questions from the professional language test.
Teaching material
All teaching material is provided online on the learning platform ILIAS.
Teachers
Course instructors are qualified teachers with appropriate degrees and educational aptitude.
Entry requirements
- A degree in medicine
- A recognized B2 language certificate (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD – a confirmation of course participation is not sufficient)
- Registered residence in Germany
- A valid visa / residence permit
- Proof of recognition procedure (i.e copy of application form, if available copy of application receipt)
- Sufficient professional language skills (e.g. confirmation of participation in a course for professional language)
If you do not have a recognised language certificate you can take a free placement test. The test is held online.
Exam
After completing the course a C1 professional language test can be taken at the Medical Association responsible for your recognition procedure.
C1 Patient Communication Test (PKT) professional language at FIA:
For holders of a degree from an EU country, the FIA C1 PKT professional language for medicine is currently recognized by the Federal State of Hessen.
Holders of a degree from outside the EU must take the C1 professional language test offered only by the Hessen State Medical Association.
The FIA C1 PKT remains valid as proof of sufficient professional language skills for all degrees in the Federal State of Saarland.

Qualification program certificate
After completing the course (attendance of at least 80%) participants receive a qualification program certificate.
Funding
The course "Simulation Medical Knowledge Test" is AZAV certified and can be funded with an education voucher from an Employment Agency or Jobcenter. Various scholarships are available as well if you reside in Germany.

To secure course quality, participants evaluate the course after course completion on the e-learning platform. Results are discussed with teachers / lecturers responsible for the course.
