Objective

This course prepares foreign dentists comprehensively for the Dental Language Test C1 to obtain the German medical license (Approbation) as well as for the medical working life.

Course contents

In (virtual) classroom teaching, the relevant structures as well as the peculiarities of the professional competences in the area of communication and interaction will be explained (for example, taking history, case presentation, patient consent, patient consultation, documentation). The dental language skills are taught with regard to the professional competencies and are practically trained. In addition, occupational aspects of the German health system are presented in detail. For this purpose, an introduction to professional multi-professional communication is carried out in consideration of interculturality.

E-learning

The e-learning serves to consolidate the newly acquired professional language skills through different individual online exercises.

The course consists of 12 online learning modules with different learning tasks and interactive learning videos in the learning platform ILIAS. Clips, audios, graphics, pictures and texts with professional language exercises are integrated into the respective learning modules. Allocation questions, cloze texts, classic single and multiple-choice assignments complete the learning experience and ensure a high impact and a high level of learning engagement.

Teaching materials

All teaching material is provided online on the ILIAS learning platform.

Teachers

Instructors of the course are qualified teachers with appropriate degrees and pedagogical aptitude.

Participation requirements

  • Degree in dentistry
  • Recognized language certificate B2 (FIA, Telc, Goethe or ÖSD – confirmation of participation is not sufficient)
  • Place of residence in Germany
  • Valid visa/ residence permit
  • Proof of recognition procedure (e.g. receipt or recognition letter; variations may apply depending on the responsible authority)

If you do not have a recognised language certificate, you can participate in a free placement test. The test is held online.

Examination

After completing the course, the professional language test C1 can be taken at the responsible licensing authority.
 

Patient Communication Test (PKT) professional language C1 at FIA:

For holders of a degree from an EU country the FIA PKT professional language C1 medicine / dentistry / pharmacy is currently recognized by the state of Hessen.

Holders of a degree from outside the EU must take the professional language test exclusively at the Hessen State Medical Association.

The FIA PKT professional language C1 remains valid as proof of sufficient professional language skills for all degrees in the federal state of Saarland.

Qualification program certificate

After completing the course (with attendance at least 80%), the participants will receive a qualification program certificate.

Funding

The "Intensive Course Preparation Dental Language Test" is AZAV certified and can be funded with an educational voucher from the Employment Agency and Jobcenters as well as through various scholarships if you reside in Germany. Evaluation

For quality assurance purposes participants evaluate the program on the e-learning platform at the end of the course. Results are discussed with the responsible teachers / lecturers.
