The following document provides a basic overview of what happens to your personal data when you register for a qualification at the Freiburg International Academy gGmbH (hereinafter referred to as the FIA).

We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data as confidential, and handle it in accordance with statutory data protection regulations and this Privacy Agreement.

We collect a variety of personal data in your registration to complete a qualification at the FIA. Personal data are data that can be used to personally identify you. This Data Privacy Declaration explains what data we collect, and the purposes for which we use it. It also explains how and for what purpose we do so.

Purpose and legal basis for data processing

Personal data transmitted to the FIA are processed in order to carry out the contractual relationship between FIA and the participant and for the purposes of communication, registration, application, organizing the qualification and informing you about other events and services from FIA.

Duration of storage

Unless statutory retention periods apply, data are deleted as soon as storing the data is no longer necessary, or as soon as our legitimate interest in storing the data has expired. The duration for which data are stored is determined based on statutory retention periods, for example under the tax code (6 years) or the Commercial Code (10 years).

Information, blockage, deletion

Under applicable law, you have the right to receive information on your saved personal data at any time, as well as the origin of that data, data recipients, and the purpose of data processing. You also have the right to have this data rectified, blocked, or deleted. Please contact us at any time if you have any questions on this or on other matters related to your personal data.

Right to data portability

You have the right to have data we process in an automated manner based on your consent, or to fulfill a contract, delivered to you or to a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. If you request data be transmitted directly to another controller, we will only do so if this is technically feasible.

Right to submit complaints to the responsible supervisory authority

If data privacy law violations occur, the data subject has the right to submit a complaint to the responsible supervisory authority. The responsible supervisory authority for questions about data privacy law is the State Data Protection Officer of the state where our company is headquartered.
